I Tirapere
(people throwing
stones) is a
very unusual
name for a
theater company,
which has well-rooted
origins in the
Canavese region.
The name
originates from
a nickname given
in the past to
people living in
Bairo, who had a
particular
concept of
hospitality.
They used to
welcome
strangers,
especially those
who were
courting girls
from Bairo, by
throwing stones
at them... |

The company was
born about
fifteen years
ago from a group
of close
friends, to
organize
festivals and
events, and to
try to recover
the old theater
located in
center of Bairo
village. Thanks
to the support
of the
Municipality and
many volunteers,
in a few years,
I Tirapere soon
managed to
recover the old
theatre. In
1999, in fact,
the Theatre of
Santa Marta was
inaugurated with
the staging of
the comedy "N'ora
bela, autra even
more 'bela,"
written by Don
Leandro Cima.
The Theater, now
flagship of the
village, is
hosting a series
of comedies
written in
Piedmont
dialect, which
are organized by
the Pro Loco. In
addition, the
Theatre of Santa
Marta is used as
exhibition
center and
offers to the
Tirapere a
comfortable
place where to
rehears their
comedies. In
recent years, I
Tirapere staged
numerous
comedies. In
2006, I Tirapere
wrote the
dialect comedy "
A basta la
salute", drawing
inspiration from
the people, its
small mania,
habits, fears,
ambitions and
illusions that
are part of
everyday life.
With this
comedy, I
Tirapere were
awarded the
third place at
the annual
competition in
the Giacosa
Theatre in Ivrea.
Adriano
Martinetto won
the third place
for directing
and Michelino
Antoniono the
second place as
best actor. The
